Nani Champy-Schott

sculpting artist

“My ceramics are freely shaped by hand, with a fire clay that I prepare myself. For the colours, I apply engobes and coloured enamels in successive layers. Afterwards, the pieces are baked one by one in a gas oven at 1000°C and smoked at the exit of the oven using newspaper, grass or sawdust (Raku baking). My shapes, colours and materials are inspired by nature, the vegetable or underwater world, you can see bark or leaves, stone or shell. Everyone can see and feel something else, what matters to me is to transmit an emotion.”
